Under the umbrella of the Green Church program, a spiritual committee for environmental action was set up, composed of people aware of the need to protect the environment and committed to developing their spirituality. To structure its approach and share it effectively, the Green Committee of Sainte-Famille parish decided to draw up an environmental policy.
We believe that nature is a place of spiritual renewal. We recognize creation as a gift from God. We pledge to appreciate this gift and promote its protection as part of a continuous improvement process. To do so, Sainte-Famille parish agrees to:
• Further reflect on our relationship to God and to Creation
• Take concrete action to reduce our environmental footprint
• Inform parishioners and make them aware of environmentally-friendly practices, and
• Reduce, reuse and recycle
To translate this policy into action, indicators, objectives and an action plan focusing on protection of the air, soil and water will be implemented. Particular emphasis will be placed on climate change. A special healthy brunch featuring a talk on climate change will be organized to make parishioners more aware of this reality. As a first action, a depolluting plant will be given to each church in the parish: a symbol of the purification of our ecosystems and our hearts. All the actions of the Green Committee are subject to the approval of the coordinator and the priest of Sainte-Famille parish.
We are enthusiastic and full of hope in the future as we engage in this process.
