Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys Parish

Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys parish is located in the St-Hubert borough, a suburb of Montreal. As Christians, we have a duty to protect God’s creation.

Here is what our parish does:

  • We use an energy-saving photocopier
  • We print on both sides of the paper
  • We encourage people to recycle:
    • Recycling bins in every office as well as in the basement of our two churches
    • Recycling of empty ink cartridges
    • Recycling of damaged fabric, sent to make rags
    • Recycling of plastic
    • Recycling of used batteries
  • We encourage people to reuse:
    • By using the unprinted back of sheets to take notes
  • We encourage people to reduce their use of:
    • Water (with signs above each tap)
    • Electricity (with signs above each light switch)
  • Green tips in the parish bulletin once a month
  • Thrift shop
  • Community kitchen
  • Fair trade coffee for certain services

Here is what we plan to do in 2014-2015:

  • Continue raising awareness during spiritual times with Sunday worshippers and young people in catechism
  • Use a local communion wine
  • Offer only fair trade and organic coffee and sugar
  • Use environmentally-friendly cleaning products
  • Set up a car-pooling system
  • Eliminate the use of disposable plates and cups

It is our wish to make improvements, one action at a time, to become better stewards of Creation.
